Summer is here and it’s a great time to
get out and enjoy shooting your bow. Before you know it, the archery
deer season will be here and the key to a successful hunting season
is having the confidence in making the right shot. Flint Bowmen has
many opportunities from now until September to get you ready for the
season.
Flint Bowmen’s
3-D Leagues begin July 27 & 28.
Our leagues are open to the public and are great for all skill
levels. We offer two different stakes for kids to shoot from
depending on their age, a beginner’s stake for the new archer and
three different stakes for those with more experience. The "more
experienced" shots include a bowhunter (orange) stake with shots up
to 25 yards, a red stake for the more experienced shooter who wants
a challenge and the green monster stake with no limits to the
distance of the shot. We also have a
Broadhead league where you
shoot at cardboard silhouettes. Some people have been known to shoot
several of these leagues!PRACTICE MAKES PERFECT!
This eight week league starts Tuesday, July 27 from 10 – 7 p.m. &
Wednesday, July 28 from 2 - 7 p.m. At the end of the league we have
a banquet with trophies, prizes and good food. If for some reason
you can’t join the league, you are welcome to shoot as an OPEN
shooter.
Looking for some weekend 3D shooting? Flint Bowmen has several
awesome 3D shoots coming up in the next few months:
Saturday, July 17 from 9 - 5 p.m. and Sunday July 18 from 9 - 3 p.m.
Flint Bowmen is holding a
30 target 3-D shoot set on our
40 acres. During our weekend shoots we offer two kids stakes
depending on age and one adult stake.
The Catch-A-Dream Foundation is also holding a Balloon Shoot
Fundraiser where you can win some great prizes while helping out
Alicia O'Neill raise $10,000 this year for the Catch-A-Dream
Foundation. The Foundation grants once-in-a-lifetime hunting and
fishing experiences to children 18 years old or younger who have a
life-threatening illness.
Also on July 18, we are hosting the
Flint Olympian
games. This is a great time because all the shooters
get medals. Bring the kids out and let them have some fun! This is
also a great warm up shoot for the 3D league beginning July 27 & 28!
Our biggest shoot of the year is the
Flint Bowmen Fall
Shoot to be held on August 14 & 15. This 30 target
3-D shoot has targets set up as skits or themes. This is definitely
a one of a kind shoot. We also give out a collector pin to every
shooter. We have many novelties including a speed shooting
competition at water filled jugs, a moving 3-D animal, moving clay
pigeons, the bionic target and a long distance shot at a bear and a
chance to win $200 if they get their arrow in a ring on the bear’s
chest. There is a cash prize Coon Shoot on Saturday evening at dusk.
We will have local vendors and swap meet. Contact Art Nellett (810)

meet.
Then rounding out the year for 3-D shoots is the
HICKS OUTDOORS
3-D Shoot on Sunday September 12. Hicks Outdoors
gives away great prizes for each of the 30 3-D targets that will be
shot. If you get a kill shot on the animal, your name goes in a bag
for that target and you could win a prize. Pre-register by calling
Hicks at (810) 564-1820. The cost is $10 for early registration or
$15 at the door. This shoot is limited to the first 300 shooters.
For all you Target
shooters, on August 7 & 8, Flint Bowmen is hosting the
MAA Target 900 Shoot. Adults
shoot from 40 meters, 50 meters and 60 meters and kids shoot from 10
to 50 meters depending on age. Please call Kim Coles at (810)
955-4078 to pre-register.
Our leagues and shoots are open to the public, however if you
become a member of Flint Bowmen you will have 24 hour access to our
