Flint Bowmen is proud to introduce a new standard of youth archery development through our year-round J.O.A.D. program — designed for young archers who are ready to grow, compete, and achieve at a higher level.

Structured in 8-week training sessions with short 1–2 week breaks between sessions, this program delivers focused instruction, skill progression, and achievement opportunities in a positive, competitive environment. Weekly tuition is just $12 for Flint Bowmen members and $15 for non-members, making elite-level instruction accessible to dedicated athletes of all experience levels.

Participation does not require Flint Bowmen membership or USA Archery J.O.A.D. membership; however, only registered USA Archery J.O.A.D. members will be eligible for official achievement pins and scholarship opportunities.

To ensure every athlete receives personalized coaching and attention, enrollment is strictly limited to 28 shooters per session with three certified instructors — maintaining a low student-to-coach ratio of approximately 9–10 archers per instructor.

Each session includes:

  • Dedicated classroom instruction focused on technique, equipment knowledge, competition mindset, and athlete development

  • Official pin shoot opportunities to recognize progress and achievement

  • Structured coaching designed to build confident, competition-ready archers

Athletes must attend at least one classroom instruction day in order to qualify for pin shoot opportunities during the session.

Spots are limited and sessions are expected to fill quickly.

Flint Bowmen J.O.A.D. is built for families looking for more than beginner lessons.

Our Next Session Starts

Wednesday June 24th!

Junior Olympic Archery Development (JOAD) is a USA Archery program for youth aged 8 to 20 designed to teach archery fundamentals, safety, and proper technique in a fun, supportive environment. It helps archers progress from beginners to advanced competitors in recurve, compound, or barebow, offering Achievement Awards and potential paths to college archery.

Key aspects of the JOAD program include:

  • Skill Development: Clubs are run by certified coaches who teach the National Training System (NTS) and proper shooting form.

  • Structure: Participants can progress through the Achievement Award Program, earning pins for reaching specific scoring goals.

  • Competition: Archers can compete at local, state, and national levels.

  • Accessibility: Open to all skill levels, from recreational to competitive, with clubs offering year-round training.
